His father a Professional trumpet player with strong Dixieland and Jazz
influences. pete could remember at the age of
8 ( The onset of the British Invasion ) going through his fake
books learning "standards of the era" on his guitar.
Walking a few miles to school ( P.S. 106 ) through the Spanish neighborhood's,
& being introduced to the Salsa-Latin rhythms. He would stop and listen to
the music, enthralled by the orchestration of the horn section and the poly
rhythms, associated with percussion and string bass. And then go home to listen
to the Oldies on WMCA Goodguys. He played Violin in school because the guitar
was not recognized as an instrument in those day's.
Pete’s
first Recording session was at Columbia Records NY City. “I belonged to a very
large NYC
Choir ( St. Raymonds ) Approx 100 vocalists. I was nine or ten and was
overwhelmed that I was going to be on an album. I never know what happened to my
copy but I am glad for the experience”.
In my High school years, I was cutting my teeth on the
guitar playing all of the hit songs of the day from Led Zepplin to Jimi Hendrix,
by my Senior year, I was involved with a few guys who wanted to do Rock and Roll
and Doo Wop but there was no room for another guitarist so I bought a bass
guitar. Within a week I was out playing in nightclubs and I have never looked
back.
